Benedictine appoints Jason Pascual head coach of varsity baseball
Benedictine Military School is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Pascual as head coach of varsity baseball, Benedictine Principal Dr. Jacob Horne announced today.
“Benedictine is blessed to have had two experienced and passionate internal candidates for this important position,” Horne said. “Our baseball program has been a vital part of Benedictine Military School’s athletic success for the past decade. We are excited that Mr. Pascual has accepted our offer, and that he is ready to build upon those successes for the future of the program.”
Pascual, 42, has 18 years of experience in secondary education as a teacher and coach. The 2023-24 academic year will be his third as a BC faculty member and his second as BC’s Theology Department Chair. Pascual served as an assistant coach under Kevin Farmer ’92 the past two seasons, focusing his efforts on the pitching staff’s development and performance.
“Words cannot fully express the gratitude that my family and I have for the Benedictine administration in affording me this opportunity to be the head baseball coach at BC,” Pascual said. “I look forward to collaborating with our players and coaches on how to continue to build upon all the successes Coach Farmer was so instrumental in bringing to the program.”
A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Pascual attended Bishop Kenny High School, where he played for FHSAA Hall of Fame Coach Bob West. Pascual then earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Seton Hall University in 2002 and was a member of the baseball team in 1999.
Bishop Kenny High School hired Pascual in 2006 as a faculty member in its religion department and as an assistant baseball coach. In his 16 seasons at Bishop Kenny, under the tutelage of head coach Tommy Edwards, Pascual was a part of one state championship, one state runner-up, two semifinals, and 11 district championships. He also coached 46 players who furthered their careers at the college level, and four players who signed professional contracts after being selected in the Major League Baseball draft.
“We are extremely excited to have Coach Pascual lead our baseball program,” Benedictine Athletic Director Jack Holland ’03 said. “He has an incredible amount of passion and enthusiasm for all aspects of the game, and you can see that in everything he does. Coach Pascual’s character and work ethic will serve our young men well, and we look forward to BC baseball continuing to compete for region and state championships under his leadership.”
Pascual is married to the former Sarah Sankovich. They are the proud parents of Louis (10), Clark (8), Oscar (6), and Xavier (9 months), and parishioners at St. James Catholic Church.
