Benedictine Military School’s sport shooting team participated in the Georgia Independent Athletic Association State Championship Thurs., Fri., and Sat. at Forest City Gun Club. Savannah Country Day won the state championship. BC won a shoot-off against Savannah Christian to take second place in the General
Division. The top-five Cadets who contributed to the final score of 1366/1500 were Mills Hollis 284/300, Jim Reynolds Morrison 275/300, Gavin Walmsley 270/300, Lucas McKenzie 269/300, and Chaz Palmer 268/300. Other notable scores included Alex Ray 266/300, Owen Washburn 266/300, Sam Anderson 264/200, John Adams 262/300, Drake Cooper 260/300, Grady McKenzie 254/300, Jack McAdams 253/300, Harrison Tate 252/300, and Anthony DeMott, 248/200. Individual scores in the top of the specific events were Mills Hollis 284/300, who finished third after a shoot-off in the High Over All (HOA). It should be noted that Mills participated in all five of the five possible shoot-offs! In sporting clays, Mills Hollis 88/100 finished fourth, Owen Washburn 87/100 finished sixth, and there were several tied for 11th including Lucas McKenzie 84/100 and Jim Reynolds Morrison 84/100. In trap, Mills Hollis 98/100 finished second after a shoot-off, additionally Jim Reynolds Morrison 93/100 and Gavin Walmsley 93/100 finished tied for 10th. Skeet was full of Cadets and shoot-offs. Six Cadets finished in the top 10. Chaz Palmer 99/100 won a shoot-off for second. Mills Hollis 98/100, Jim Reynolds Morrison 98/100, and John Adams 98/100 were in a four-way shoot-off and finished tied for sixth. Sam Anderson 97/100 and Drake Cooper 97/100 finished tied for ninth. Congratulations to Mills Hollis 284/300 and Jim Reynolds Morrison 275/300, who were selected all-state.
